Urinary fluoride output in children following the use of a dual-fluoride varnish formulation
OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the bioavailability of fluoride after topical application of a dual-fluoride varnish commercially available in Brazil, when compared to DuraphatTM. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The urinary fluoride output was evaluated in seven 5-

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Fluoride resistance in Streptococcus mutans: a mini review
For decades, fluoride has been used extensively as an anti-caries agent. It not only protects dental hard tissue, but also inhibits bacterial growth and metabolism.

Fluoride retention in saliva and in dental biofilm after different home-use fluoride treatments
This single-blind, randomized, crossover study aimed at assessing the long-term fluoride concentrations in saliva and in dental biofilm after different home-use fluoride treatments. The study volunteers (n = 38) were residents of an area with fluoridated

In his book The Reluctant Messiah Richard Bach (the author of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull) writes this simple sentence, 'Beliefs can be ferocious traps.' Indeed they can, as we will doubtless see in the reaction to the recently published systematic review on water fluoridation.
