Optimization and Dynamic Adjustment of Tandem Columns for Separating an Ethylbenzene–Styrene Mixture Using a Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Algorithm

open access: yesSeparations
This study focuses on optimizing two tandem columns to separate ethylbenzene and styrene. A steady-state model is developed to minimize total energy consumption (TEC) and total annualized cost (TAC) by optimizing the reflux flow rates.

Fluorination with Complex Fluorine Compounds

open access: yesThe Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, Japan, 1969

Introduction of Fluorine and Fluorine‐Containing Functional Groups [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2013
AbstractOver the past decade, the most significant, conceptual advances in the field of fluorination were enabled most prominently by organo‐ and transition‐metal catalysis. The most challenging transformation remains the formation of the parent CF bond, primarily as a consequence of the high hydration energy of fluoride, strong metal—fluorine bonds ...

Cryo‐EM of Rationally Designed Photosystem I Nanoassembly on Graphene Validates Orientation‐Driven Enhancement of Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows

Biomimetic synthesis of vesicular covalent organic frameworks by gemini surfactants for in-situ enzyme cascade immobilization

open access: yesNature Communications
In nature, enzymes in biofilms often lack robustness and chemical functionality. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as a robust platform for enzyme immobilization, but mimicking biofilm structures for in-situ enzyme immobilization remains ...

Boosting the Energy Density of “Anode‐Free” Lithium Metal Batteries via Electrospun Polymeric Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
While host structures are known to enhance the reversibility and safety of lithium metal deposition, their additional volume and weight often decrease the battery's energy density and specific energy. By combining a lightweight and porous scaffold of electrospun polymer with a thinner separator, this article demonstrates a simultaneous improvement of ...
