Engineering Fluoroacetate Dehalogenase by Growth-Based Selections on Non-Natural Organofluorides. [PDF]
We present a high‐throughput selection system to engineer fluoroacetate dehalogenases (FAcDs). By challenging E. coli populations that produce diverse FAcD libraries to grow on non‐natural organofluorides as their sole carbon source, we isolated a panel of FAcD variants with improved activity and altered substrate specificity.

Biodegradation of mono-, di- and trifluoroacetate by microbial cultures with different origins [PDF]
This work focused on the biodegradation of three structurally related fluoroacetates (FAs), mono- (MFA), di- (DFA) and trifluoroacetate (TFA), using as microbial inocula samples collected from a site with a long history of industrial contamination and ...

Approaches to the synthesis of fluoromuscimol and applications of the enantiomers of [7-²H₁]-benzyl fluoride as chiral probes for enzyme reactions [PDF]
This thesis explores the synthesis and use of biologically active fluorinated organic compounds. Muscimol is the neuroactive species of the psychoactive mushroom Amanita muscaria.

Exceptionally Mild, High-Yield Synthesis of α-Fluoro Acrylates
Novel achiral and chiral alkyl α-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylsulfonyl)-α-fluoroacetates can be readily synthesized by metalation−fluorination of (1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylsulfonyl)acetates.

A difluorinative rearrangement of substituted cyclopropenes is disclosed using I(I)/I(III) catalysis. This platform enables di‐, tri‐, and tetra‐substituted allyl difluorides to be generated with high levels of stereoselectivity, with the I(III) center serving as a traceless directing group.

Neodymium‐Doped Nanocrystals for Sensing Cellular Temperature at the Nanoscale
Neodymium‐doped NaYF4 nanocrystals are engineered as bright, biocompatible nanothermometers for intracellular temperature mapping. Their ratiometric near‐infrared emission enables highly sensitive, nanoscale thermal readouts in living cells. Combined with gold nanostars for photothermal therapy, they reveal pronounced subcellular heating heterogeneity ...

ABSTRACT Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by certain fungi have previously been suggested to modulate plant development and their response to stresses. While some fungal species, such as Trichoderma harzianum, are known to produce VOCs, the production of VOCs in other phylogenetically divergent species, such as Mucor mucedo, was previously ...

PFAS properties and destruction methods: A focus on enzymatic degradation
Abstract Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are known as ‘forever’ chemicals and have lasting detrimental impact on the environment and living organisms. To understand PFAS molecules better, this review begins with an overview of PFAS definition, classifications and applications, and then provides a comprehensive summary and critical analysis ...
