Positron emission tomography with fluorodeoxyglucose-F18 in an animal model of mania

Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging, 2008
Intracerebroventricular (ICV) administration of ouabain to young adult rats has been suggested to model human bipolar mania. In the human condition, mania and bipolar depression are both associated with reductions in frontal cerebral metabolism. We utilized [(18)F]-fluorodeoxyglucose [(18)FDG] positron emission tomography (PET) to visualize glucose ...

F18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography in the evaluation of vertebral vascular tumors

Clinical Imaging, 2020
The uptake of 18F-FDG is higher in most malignancies than in benign tumors. This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of 18F-FDG PET/CT in vertebral vascular tumors. We retrospectively collected PET/CT and clinical data of patients with vertebral vascular tumors and analyzed the location, number, and bone destruction and FDG uptake features ...

Metabolic imaging using F18-fluorodeoxyglucose to assess myocardial viability.

International journal of cardiac imaging, 1997
Over the past 10 years, F18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) imaging with positron emission tomography (PET) has emerged as an important technique in the delineation of myocardial viability. Using this technique it has become possible to predict recovery of ventricular function after revascularization in patients with chronic coronary artery disease. Data from

Fluorodeoxyglucose F18 positron emission tomography in a case of slowly progressive pure alexia

Neurocase, 2013
We describe a 71-year-old patient with slowly progressive pure alexia in which analysis of her fluorodeoxyglucose FDG-PET scan revealed an area of focal hypometabolism in the visual word form area. She presented with difficulty reading. Examination revealed pure alexia with preservation of other cognitive domains. Brain MRI revealed only slight atrophy.

Lung Neoplasms with Low F18-Fluorodeoxyglucose Avidity

PET Clinics, 2018
Some malignant lung neoplasms may demonstrate low or absent uptake on F18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/computed tomography. Pathologic type and clinical stage are independent factors associated with FDG avidity. Among lung malignancies with low FDG avidity, adenocarcinoma in situ and carcinoid are the most common.

Clinical significance of thyroid uptake on F18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography

Annals of Nuclear Medicine, 2009
Significant uptake of the thyroid is often identified as an incidental finding on whole-body F18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) for non-thyroid disease. Sometimes, it is a dilemma for radiologists to interpret clinical significance of thyroid uptake and give adequate recommendation for further evaluation.

Non–Small-Cell Lung Cancer PET Imaging Beyond F18 Fluorodeoxyglucose

PET Clinics, 2018
F18 Flurodeoxyglucose (FDG) is a nonspecific PET tracer representing tumor energy metabolism, with common false-positive and false-negative findings in clinical practice. Non-small cell lung cancer is highly heterogeneous histologically, biologically, and molecularly.

Myocardial Glucose Utilization in Ischaemic Heart Disease: Preliminary Results with F18-fluorodeoxyglucose and Positron Emission Tomography

European Heart Journal, 1986
Regional myocardial utilization of glucose can be assessed non-invasively in man with the sugar analogue F18-2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (FDG) and positron emission tomography (PET). The preliminary observations made in patients with different clinical forms of ischaemic heart disease using FDG and PET are reported.

Hemispheric asymmetries of hypometabolism associated with semantic memory impairment in Alzheimer's disease: a study using positron emission tomography with fluorodeoxyglucose-F18

Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging, 2004
Considerable disagreement exists about the neuroanatomical basis of conceptual-semantic impairments observed in a subgroup of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) at mild to moderate stages of the disease. Several studies of groups of patients have shown correlations between focal hypometabolism or hypoperfusion in left hemispheric areas and measures
