Fluorophore-Labeling Tetraphenylethene Dyes Ranging from Visible to Near-Infrared Region: AIE Behavior, Performance in Solid State, and Bioimaging in Living Cells

open access: yes, 2019
Functional molecules with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) have lately received the most attention due to their versatile functions in many fields. In this work, tetraphenylethene (TPE) as one of the most discussed AIE system was installed on different

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Photoinduced Charge Separation in a Fluorophore−Gold Nanoassembly

open access: yes, 2016
We report the first spectroscopic demonstration of direct electron transfer between a gold nanoparticle and a surface-bound fluorophore induced by pulsed laser irradiation. Binding of pyrene thiol directly to the gold nanoparticle results in quenching of

A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

CD4+ Tregs Drive Post‐Ischemic Sprouting Angiogenesis via Endothelial YY1/MAML1 Reactivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microvascular complications of diabetes are chronic diseases of small vessels. We previously found that CD4+ regulatory T‐cells (Tregs) are markedly reduced in type 2 diabetes (T2D) after ischemic injury in both mice and humans, and that Treg deficiency in immunodeficient mice impairs vascular regeneration.

Polymer Matrix‐Based 3D Culture Significantly Enhances the Differentiation and Immunomodulatory Functions of Human Adipose‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3D culture of human adipose‐derived stem cells (hADSCs) on a crosslinked cyclosiloxane‐based poly‐Z matrix platform enables the formation of spheroid structures enriched with extracellular matrix (ECM). These ECM‐enriched hADSC spheroids cultured on poly‐Z exhibit enhanced differentiation potential, immunomodulatory capacity, and in vivo ...

Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

Engineering Central Substitutions in Heptamethine Dyes via Aryl-lithium Addition for Improved Fluorophore Performance

open access: yes
As a major family of red-shifted fluorophores that operate beyond the visible light, polymethine dyes are pivotal in light-based biological techniques. However, the methods for tuning this kind of fluorophores by structural modification remain restricted
