An alternative approach to assessing feasibility of flushing sediment from reservoirs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Effective parameters on feasibility of sediment flushing through reservoirs include hydrological, hydraulic, and topographic properties of the reservoirs. In this study, the performances of the Decision tree forest (DTF) and Group method of data handling

Coronary artery fistula with associated Takotsubo cardiomyopathy: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2018
Background Coronary artery fistula, first described by Krause in 1865, is an abnormal communication between the coronary artery and one of the four chambers of the heart or one of the great vessels. The communications are often congenital but may also be

Measurement of dry deposition to bulk precipitation collectors using a novel flushing sampler [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Bulk precipitation samplers, which are continuously open, also sample gases and particles deposited on the funnel surface. Wet-only samplers, which open only during precipitation, avoid this problem, but can be bulky (leading to disruption of air flow ...

Quality of Life and Toxicity after SBRT for Organ-Confined Prostate Cancer, a Seven Year Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2014
Objectives: Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) yields excellent disease control for lowandintermediate-risk prostate cancer by delivering high doses of radiation in a small number offractions.

Image analysis procedure for studying Back-Diffusion phenomena from low-permeability layers in laboratory tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study, the long-term tailing derived from the storage process of contaminants in low-permeability zones is investigated. The release from these areas in the groundwater can be considered a long-term source that often undermines remediation ...

Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy as Treatment for Organ Confined Low and Intermediate Risk Prostate Carcinoma, a Seven Year Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2014
Objectives: Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) takes advantage of the prostate’s low α/β ratio to deliver a large radiation dose in few fractions. Initial studies on small groups of low-risk patients support SBRT’s potential for clinical efficacy

Flushing Time Versus Residence Time for the Great Bay Estuary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The terms “flushing time” and “residence time” have cropped up often in discussions about water quality and eelgrass health in the Great Bay Estuary. Flushing time and residence time are not the same thing and should not be used interchangeably. Flushing

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
