A Bayesian approach for analyzing crop yield response data with limited treatments
Abstract This paper proposes a Bayesian multilevel modeling approach to incorporate response parameters from published studies into crop yield response estimation procedures when nonlimiting or limiting treatment levels are omitted or limited in agronomic experiments.

Abstract Monitoring net ecosystem carbon dioxide (CO2) exchange (NEE) using eddy covariance (EC) flux towers is quite common, but the measurements are valid at the scale of tower footprints. Alternative ways to quantify and extrapolate EC‐measured NEE across potential production areas have not been explored in detail.

Perennial bioenergy crops have been shown to increase soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks, potentially offsetting anthropogenic C emissions. We measured differences in SOC stocks under switchgrass and conventional crops at three sites in Oklahoma to greater than 1 m depth.

Closely related winter wheat cultivar performance in U.S. Great Plains acid soils
Abstract Aluminum‐tolerant wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars are often employed to damper the yield‐limiting impacts of Al toxicity in acidic soils. Tolerance is often facilitated by the Al‐activated malate transporter 1 (ALMT1) gene, which increases anion permeability of wheat roots and exudes malate in the presence of Al.

Nitrogen Requirements of Ethiopian Mustard for Biofuel Feedstock in South Dakota
Core Ideas Brassica carinata is a new crop in the Northern Great Plains. Best management practices including N fertilizer recommendations should be developed. Seed yield and oil yield were optimized at 84 kg ha–1 of applied N fertilizer. Seed oil concentration decreased linearly at a rate of 0.26 g kg–1 for every 1 kg ha–1 increase in N rate.

Impact of Late‐Season Herbicide Applications on Winter Canola Yield and Seed Quality
Core Ideas The application of glyphosate during early reproductive growth resulted in significant declines in yield. Decreased yields with late‐season herbicides were associated with an increased number of aborted pods; however, this may not be the only factor contributing to the yield decline.
