Geometric algebra techniques in flux compactifications (II) [PDF]
A bstractWe study constrained generalized Killing spinors over the metric cone and cylinder of a (pseudo-)Riemannian manifold, developing a toolkit which can be used to investigate certain problems arising in supersymmetric flux compactifications of ...

Theta divisors and permutohedra
Abstract We establish an intriguing relation of the smooth theta divisor Θn$\Theta ^n$ with permutohedron Πn$\Pi ^n$ and the corresponding toric variety XΠn$X_\Pi ^n$. In particular, we show that the generalised Todd genus of the theta divisor Θn$\Theta ^n$ coincides with h$h$‐polynomial of permutohedron Πn$\Pi ^n$ and thus is different from the same ...

SO(32) heterotic standard model vacua in general Calabi-Yau compactifications
We study a direct flux breaking scenario in SO(32) heterotic string theory on general Calabi-Yau threefolds. The direct flux breaking, corresponding to hypercharge flux breaking in the F-theory context, allows us to derive the Standard Model in general ...

Compactifications of strata of differentials
Abstract In this informal expository note, we quickly introduce and survey compactifications of strata of holomorphic 1‐forms on Riemann surfaces, that is, spaces of translation surfaces. In the last decade, several of these have been constructed, studied, and successfully applied to problems.

Analytics of type IIB flux vacua and their mass spectra
We analyze the tree-level potential of type IIB flux compactifications in warped Calabi-Yau orientifolds, in regions of weak coupling and moderately large complex structure.

Charting the landscape of N = 4 flux compactifications [PDF]
We analyse the vacuum structure of isotropic Z2 × Z2 flux compactifications, allowing for a single set of sources. Combining algebraic geometry with supergravity techniques, we are able to classify all vacua for both type IIA and IIB backgrounds with ...

Dual spaces of geodesic currents
Abstract Every geodesic current on a hyperbolic surface has an associated dual space. If the current is a lamination, this dual embeds isometrically into a real tree. We show that, in general, the dual space is a Gromov hyperbolic metric tree‐graded space, and express its Gromov hyperbolicity constant in terms of the geodesic current.

Fouling in Emulsion Polymerization: Fundamentals and Methods of Investigation
ABSTRACT The current understanding of fouling in emulsion polymerization is summarized from an engineering perspective and from a physical‐chemistry perspective. Emulsion polymerization in semibatch mode offers better control over the number of particles and side reactions than batch mode. Both reaction fouling and particulate fouling are observed, the

Scale separation from O-planes
Orientifold planes play a crucial role in flux compactifications of string theory, and we demonstrate their deep connection to achieving scale-separated solutions.

Tunable holographic metasurfaces for augmented and virtual reality
Abstract Augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) is transforming how humans interact with technology in a wide range of fields and industries, from healthcare and education to entertainment. However, current device limitations have impeded wider integration. Tunable holographic metasurfaces represent a promising platform for revolutionizing AR/VR devices
