Nothing is certain in string compactifications
A bubble of nothing is a spacetime instability where a compact dimension collapses. After nucleation, it expands at the speed of light, leaving “nothing” behind.

Moduli space holography and the finiteness of flux vacua
A holographic perspective to study and characterize field spaces that arise in string compactifications is suggested. A concrete correspondence is developed by studying two-dimensional moduli spaces in supersymmetric string compactifications.

Flux Compactifications on Calabi-Yau Threefolds [PDF]
The presence of RR and NS three-form fluxes in type IIB string compactification on a Calabi-Yau orientifold gives rise to a nontrivial superpotential W for the dilaton and complex structure moduli. This superpotential is computable in terms of the period

Hierarchies from fluxes in string compactifications [PDF]
Warped compactifications with significant warping provide one of the few known mechanisms for naturally generating large hierarchies of physical scales. We demonstrate that this mechanism is realizable in string theory, and give examples involving orientifold compactifications of IIB string theory and F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau four-folds.

New non-supersymmetric flux vacua in string theory
In this note we construct large ensembles of supersymmetry breaking solutions arising in the context of flux compactifications of type IIB string theory.

Three-forms in supergravity and flux compactifications
We present a duality procedure that relates conventional four-dimensional matter-coupled $$\mathcal{N}=1$$ N = 1 supergravities to dual formulations in which auxiliary fields are replaced by field strengths of gauge three-forms.

Compactifying 5d superconformal field theories to 3d
Building on recent progress in the study of compactifications of 6d (1, 0) superconformal field theories (SCFTs) on Riemann surfaces to 4d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 theories, we initiate a systematic study of compactifications of 5d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1

Hypercharge flux in heterotic compactifications
We study heterotic Calabi-Yau models with hypercharge flux breaking, where the visible E8 gauge group is directly broken to the standard model group by a non-flat gauge bundle, rather than by a two-step process involving an intermediate grand unified theory and a Wilson line.

Type IIB flux compactifications with h 1,1 = 0
We revisit flux compactifications of type IIB string theory on ‘spaces’ dual to rigid Calabi-Yau manifolds. This rather unexplored part of the string landscapes harbors many interesting four-dimensional solutions, namely supersymmetric N $$ \mathcal{N} $$
