Model Predictive Virtual Flux Control Method for Low Switching Loss Performance in Three-Phase AC/DC Pulse-width-Modulated Converters

open access: yesMachines
Three-phase AC/DC pulse-width-modulated (PWM) converters have been widely employed in various renewable energy systems and industrial applications, which require a high-efficiency power converter operation.

Decoherence processes in a current biased dc SQUID

open access: yes, 2006
A current bias dc SQUID behaves as an anharmonic quantum oscillator controlled by a bias current and an applied magnetic flux. We consider here its two level limit consisting of the two lower energy states $| 0 \right>$ and $| 1 \right>$.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants. ABSTRACT Objective Return of disease activity is expected when patients discontinue disease‐modifying therapy (DMT) for multiple sclerosis (MS). Some MS DMTs are associated with higher‐than‐expected disease activity (rebound) after discontinuation.

Phase switching in a voltage-biased Aharonov-Bohm interferometer

open access: yes, 2007
Recent experiment [Sigrist et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 98}, 036805 (2007)] reported switches between 0 and $\pi$ in the phase of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations of the two-terminal differential conductance through a two-dot ring with increasing voltage bias.

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Diagnostic Use of Testing for Novel Murine Autoantibodies for Sjögren Disease in the Rheumatology Outpatient Setting

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The goal was to assess the diagnostic performance of three novel autoantibodies (NA) for Sjögren disease (SjD) by comparing NA prevalence in patients with SjD, other autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), nonspecific chronic sialadenitis (CS), and controls.

High-efficiency thermal switch based on topological Josephson junctions

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
We propose theoretically a thermal switch operating by the magnetic-flux controlled diffraction of phase-coherent heat currents in a thermally biased Josephson junction based on a two-dimensional topological insulator.
