Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

General Principles of Combinations of Stator Poles and Rotor Teeth for Conventional Flux-Switching Brushless Machines with Prime Phase Numbers

open access: yesEnergies
In order to achieve the optimal stator–rotor combinations of conventional flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machines, this paper proposes and analyzes a general principle with prime phase numbers.

Smart Switching in Single-Phase Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Power Systems for Inrush Current Elimination

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power systems are one of the most promising technologies to address growing energy demand and ecological challenges. This paper proposes smart switching to mitigate inrush currents during the connection of single-phase ...

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Parametric coupling for superconducting qubits

open access: yes, 2006
We propose a scheme to couple two superconducting charge or flux qubits biased at their symmetry points with unequal energy splittings. Modulating the coupling constant between two qubits at the sum or difference of their two frequencies allows to bring ...

Versatile Cold Atom Source for Multi-Species Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a dual-species oven and Zeeman slower setup capable of producing slow, high-flux atomic beams for loading magneto-optical traps. Our compact and versatile system is based on electronic switching between different magnetic field profiles and is

Energy Conversion in DC Excited Flux-Switching Machines [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2014
This paper initiates a study on energy conversion in dc excited flux-switching machines (DCEFSMs) to reveal the torque production mechanism of this type of machines. The flux linkage components and self- and mutual inductances of a single-phase two-rotor-tooth DCEFSM are investigated.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
