Advantages of longitudinal flux linear switched reluctance motor compared to transverse flux linear switched reluctance motor for levitation purposes

2011 24th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering(CCECE), 2011
Linear switched reluctance motors (LSRMs) have great attractive force. This force can be used as levitation force. In general, LSRMs are divided in two types: 1) longitudinal flux LSRMs 2) transverse flux LSRMs. Two phase single-sided longitudinal flux and transverse flux LSRMs are considered.

The flux switching motor, a DC motor without magnets or brushes

Conference Record of the 1999 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Forth IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.99CH36370), 2003
This paper describes a new class of electric motor, with a field winding and an armature winding, both of which are on the stator. The motor has no brushes or permanent magnets. Its motor characteristics are shown to be similar to those of a DC machine. Control of the armature windings can be achieved with very simple electronic circuits resulting in a

Novel Permanent Magnet Switching Flux Motors

Proceedings of the 41st International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2006
Permanent magnet switching flux (PMSF) motor combines the advantages of both SR motor and PM motor. All 3-phase PMSF motors reported previously have 12 poles on the stator where a magnet is embedded in each pole and 10 poles on the rotor. In this paper, a new structure motor is proposed. It has also 10 poles on the rotor, but only 6 poles on the stator.

Design of a bearingless flux-switching slice motor

2014 International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC-Hiroshima 2014 - ECCE ASIA), 2014
This work introduces a novel bearingless slice motor design, the bearingless flux-switching slice motor. In contrast to state-of-the-art bearingless slice motors the rotor in this new design does not possess any permanent magnets. This offers advantages for disposable rotor devices for instance in the medical industry and extends the range of ...

Transverse flux tubular switched reluctance motor

2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, 2008
A transverse flux tubular switched reluctance motor of a particular construction is presented. The traction force equations are obtained based on two simplified models and a sizing designing procedure for the motor is developed. A two dimensions finite element method (2D-FEM) analysis is performed in order to check the analytically calculated ...

Flux weakening operation of switched reluctance motors

2001 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37194), 2002
Speed can be increased above base speed by flux weakening in the DC machine. The relationships of torque, power and speed have been characterized for the DC machine when operating from zero speed to twice base speed. To date, no such research has been performed on the switched reluctance motor (SRM) above base speed.

Optimum design and analysis of flux switching motor

Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2015
AbstractThis paper presents the analysis of flux switching motor (FSM) using analytical and finite elements methods. The design procedure with the optimal combination of pole arcs is presented. A comprehensive programme based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is developed in MATLAB to compute the maximum torque with suitable pole arcs ...

New Single-Phase Flux Switching Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2017
In this paper, a new topology of a single-phase flux switching permanent magnet motor (FSPM) is presented. Unlike conventional FSPMs, the air-gap flux flows in the axial direction, and therefore, it is named the flux switching axial flux permanent magnet motor (FS AFPM).

Mitigation of magnetic flux saturation in dual-excitation flux switching motor

2015 IEEE Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2015
Development of dual-excitation flux switching machines (DEFSMs) in which the combination of permanent magnet (PM) and DC field-excitation coil (FEC) as their main flux sources has been carried out over many years. This is due to their definite advantage of variable flux capabilities with high potential to gain much higher torque and power densities, as

Analysis of transverse-flux switched-flux permanent magnet linear motor

2015 IEEE Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2015
In order to lower the cost, the switched-flux linear motor (SFLM) is proposed by combining both PMs and armature windings in short mover, which avoids long armature or long PMs as normal PMLMs. Moreover, SFLM combines the merits of linear motor and rotatory switched-flux motor, so they exhibit the advantages of bipolar flux-linkage and high thrust ...
