Design and Investigation of Flux Weakening Capability in Variable Flux Reluctance Machine
2016 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC), 2016This paper presents the design of a variable flux reluctance machine (VFRM), which has both DC field and AC armature windings in stator, for high speed application. The method to calculate the torque-speed characteristics of the VFRM with both optimized DC field current and d-axis current is developed in this paper.

Flux-weakening control of PMSM considering inverter nonlinearity
Proceedings of The 7th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2012This paper proposes an improved flux-weakening operation for PMSM considering inverter nonlinearity. For the flux-weakening operation, full utilization of an available voltage applied to a motor is very important. One of critical information for the flux-weakening control is an actual motor input voltage, which is commonly replaced by a command voltage.

Flux distortion and iron losses in flux-weakened permanent magnet synchronous motor
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2000Abstract The iron losses were determined by using modelled properties of used electrical steel and calculated flux distribution in the core of the four-pole permanent magnet synchronous motor, working in the flux-weakening regime. The distribution of the magnetic induction B (t) in all parts of the motor was obtained by the numerical ...

A new adaptive flux weakening method of PMSM
2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011In this paper, an adaptive flux weakening method for PMSM is proposed. The demagnetization current can be obtained by an adaptive PI regulator according to the reference voltage output by the current loop controller and the voltage limitation of the inverter. This method can reduce the dependency on motor parameters and improve the robust and precision

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2015
Memory motors [1] [2] equipped with either single low-coercive force (LCF) or hybrid magnets have been extensively investigated due to the elimination of the associated excitation loss during the flux adjustment. Thus, they enable high efficiency operation within a wide range of speeds and loads.

Design and Control of an Axial Flux Machine for a Wide Flux-Weakening Operation Region
2007 IEEE Industry Applications Annual Meeting, 2007This paper describes the strategy to design and control of an axial flux SPM machine for achieving a wide flux-weakening operating region. By using a slotted stator with fractional slot windings and additional cores enclosing end windings, the axial flux machine satisfies the specification of a wide constant power speed range.

Flux-weakening performance of series permanent magnet memory machine
2017 20th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2017This paper presents the theoretical analysis of flux-weakening performance of series permanent magnet (SPM) memory machine. A modified circle diagram is proposed to graphically illustrate the maximum torque per voltage (MTPV) flux-weakening control strategy for the memory machine.

Closed-loop flux-weakening for permanent magnet synchronous motors
4th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2008), 2008This paper presents a simple robust integrator-like flux-weakening regulator for permanent magnet synchronous machines, based on a general closed-loop flux-weakening which uses a reference stator voltage and DC link voltage feedback. Also, some of the open-loop flux-weakening schemes covering constant torque and power regions are briefly discussed and ...

Flux weakening control of IPMSM used for xEV traction
2015 IEEE 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2015This paper analyzes the practical operation limits of an IPMSM and proposes a speed control strategy which is suitable for real engineering implementation. Given a specific IPMSM which is used for low-speed EV traction, operation limits are pre-calculated according to motor parameters. Subsequently, a speed control strategy is implemented.
