A Precise New System of FM Radar

Proceedings of the IRE, 1956
The paper describes a new system of fm radar by which both the range and the speed of the target can be accurately measured. The "fixed error," which is a characteristic of fm radar apparatus now in use, has been eliminated, affording correct measurement of ranges, even if they are very short.

A New Display for FM/CW Radars

IRE Transactions on Military Electronics, 1961
One of the limitations of FM/CW radars, often quoted in the literature, is in their inability to handle multiple targets. Several variations of a comparatively simple Range/Range Rate Display, capable of handling and resolving a large number of targets when used in conjunction with an FM/CW radar, are presented.

Backscattering measurements by an FM radar method

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1963
This paper describes a method for measuring the backscattering cross section of an arbitrary target using FM radar techniques. This method has a merit that it does not require a nonreflecting background behind the target, by the use of a high selective amplifier in the FM radar.

35 GHz FM-CW radar modules

Fourth International Kharkov Symposium 'Physics and Engineering of Millimeter and Sub-Millimeter Waves'. Symposium Proceedings (Cat. No.01EX429), 2002
At IRCTR, a collision avoidance radar demonstrator (Colarado) for autonomous vehicles is under development. The radar task is to avoid collisions by detecting the presence of obstacles and by determining the obstacle positions and velocities in the near range of the radar. In the years 1996-1999, an X-band (centre frequency 9.75 GHz, bandwidth 1.5 GHz)

FM-UWB for radar and communications in medical applications

2008 First International Symposium on Applied Sciences on Biomedical and Communication Technologies, 2008
UWB technology is an attractive technology for Wireless Body Area Networks. There are many advantages of using ultra-wideband (UWB) as both a sensing and a communication standard for biomedical applications: very low radiated power (-41.3 dBm/MHz), low power consumption, good coexistence with other existing wireless technologies, robustness to ...

Stepped-FM pulse radar for vehicular collision avoidance

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part I: Communications), 1999
In this paper a stepped-FM pulse radar for vehicular collision avoidance is proposed, providing anti-interference capability and high range resolution. Wide-band VCO devices have in general a linearity error over the bandwidth, which is critical issue for high-range-resolution radar. We also suggest a compensation scheme based on the LMS method for the

Short Pulse, FM/CW and Chirp Radars

1976
As a starting point in its discussions on the effect of atmospheric factors on short pulse, FM/CW and chirp radars the working group assigned the same fractional bandwidth and mean power to each type. This was necessary to make them equivalent and permit a valid comparison to be made.
