An FMECA-based approach to process analysis

International Journal of Process Management and Benchmarking, 2006
This paper presents a new methodological approach named 'Dysfunction Mode and Effects Critical Analysis' (DMECA) to determine and analyse possible dysfunctions in complex management processes. The proposed approach is conceptually derived from the Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) technique.

FMECA of a turntable

2009
Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) is one of the most used tool for identifying and evaluating failure modes of mechanical systems, in order to enhance reliability and safety of simple components or even complex systems. Despite of being widely applied, this tool presents some limitations on problem solving, like the impossibility ...

FMECA for aircraft electric system

2011 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering, 2011
Systems reliability analysis method has a wide application in product reliability analysis. It can describe failure mode of system more clearly. When analyzing product using FMECA method, we often use system reliability analysis method. However, this method has its difficulty to use.

Integration of BIT Effectiveness with FMECA

Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, 1984. Proceedings., 2005
This paper discusses a method to quantitatively analyze BIT effectiveness. It is addressed as a logical extension of the failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA). The hybrid FMECA/BIT work sheet is shown, and described in detail, along with the computer program used.

FMECA Control for Software Development

29th Annual International Computer Software and Applications Conference (COMPSAC'05), 2006
This paper presents a brief overview of current work at the University of Louisville toward the use of systems engineering methodologies for control of the software engineering process. While this work is still in its initial stages, the methodologies for failure modes, effects and criticality analysis seem to be particularly appropriate.

FMECA Modeling - A New Approach

International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis, 1999
Abstract FMECA tools must be included into the designers tools suite in order to support the new vision for a concurrent engineering environment. To support this new vision we introduce a major enhancement to the Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to provide a more accurate, simpler, accessible and frequently used ...

FMECA for intrinsically safe devices

2016 Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS), 2016
Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis is a systems level analysis to quantify the robustness of product design for an intended application. Intrinsic Safety is a Hazardous Locations protection method based on the limitation of energy and power within an electrical device such that no spark or thermal ignition can occur.

FMECA: an integrated approach

Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium. 1991 Proceedings, 2002
FMECA (failure modes, effects and criticality analysis) is an engineering analysis and a core activity performed by reliability engineers to review the effects of probable failure modes of components and assemblies of the system on system performance. The FMECA is a system analysis tool used as an input for logistic support analysis, test requirements ...

An alternative method for preparing FMECA's

Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium. 1991 Proceedings, 2002
Some of the practical problems associated with the application of formal, MIL-STD-1629, failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs) are addressed, and an alternative cost-saving methodology is proposed. The technique is fast in application and allows engineers to influence design decisions, using FMEA studies, as the design progresses.

The new SAE FMECA standard

Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium. 1998 Proceedings. International Symposium on Product Quality and Integrity, 1998
The new SAE FAMECA standard goes a long way toward bringing FMECA (failure mode effects and criticality analysis) into line with modern design practices. This is accomplished through three major changes. (1) The new standard describes the FMECA procedure as a process to be used throughout the product development cycle, rather than as a task to be done ...
