Experimental Study on Foaming Characteristics of Foamed Asphalt
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013This paper presents study on foaming characteristics of two types asphalt with same Penetration-grade 70. Asphalt temperature (AT), water content (WC) and water temperature (WT) were selected for investigation their effects on the asphalt foamability. Maximum expansion ratio (ERMax) and half-life (HL) are important indicators of foamed asphalt.

Influence of foaming on tribological and rheological characteristics of foamed asphalt
Construction and Building Materials, 2019Abstract The frictional characteristics of asphalt binder as a lubricant film in an asphalt-aggregate interaction play a major role in workability of warm-mix asphalt (WMA). However, no WMA research considered the frictional characteristics of asphalt to demonstrate the workability of WMA, rather most of the previous studies are limited to foaming ...

Influence of foaming water content on foam asphalt mixtures
Construction and Building Materials, 2015Warm mix asphalt technology using foamed bitumen is being used widely despite the fact that high air void content and poor coating of large aggregate remain major drawbacks require enhancement. This paper manly focuses on the investigation of water content influence on the foamed bitumen and the asphalt mixture.

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2015
Warm-mix asphalt (WMA) produced by foaming is widely used in the asphalt paving industry and is the largest segment of the WMA market in the United States. To produce foaming, a small quantity of cold water is injected into hot asphalt to cause a reduction in the asphalt viscosity and improve the coating of the aggregate particles.

The Mechanical Properties of Foam Asphalt Mixture
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011The mechanical properties of foam asphalt mixture are investigated, including indirect tensile strength (ITS), moisture resistance, rutting resistance and fatigue resistance. The test results indicate the 40°C3d curing mehod can stimulate the 30d or 60d natural environment temperature (25°C) curing procedures, which can quickly evaluate the long term ...

Effect of zeolite properties on asphalt foaming
Construction and Building Materials, 2017Abstract This study includes investigation of two zeolite additives to non-modified asphalt binder and associated foaming phenomena. Two zeolites differ in their crystalline structures, i.e. one was Na-P1 synthetic zeolite and second was clinoptilolite natural zeolite. Prior to asphalt foaming these materials were additionally soaked with water which

Evaluation of Asphalt Foaming Characteristics
ICCTP 2011, 2011This study explores new and more convenient methods and indexes for characterizing foamed asphalt. First, a radioactive decay model was used for foamed asphalt, and a general equation was derived by differential methods for the actual maximum expansion ratio. The independent variables of the equation were the maximum measured expansion ratio, half-life

Rheological and microstructural properties of foamed epoxy asphalt
Construction and Building Materials, 2016Abstract Epoxy asphalt has been extensively used in the bridge deck pavement. The main concerns during the construction process of epoxy asphalt are including high construction temperature, high viscosity to deal with and limited construction time which finally affects the service performance of the pavement.
