EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF HEAT TRANSFER AND PRESSURE DROP IN POROUS METAL FOAMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Metal foams made by the SlipReactionFoamSintering (SRFS)-process are investigated. In these foams the pores are produced by a reaction between iron and a weak acid. The generated hydrogen forms pores in a metal powder slurry.

Investigation of Marangoni flow in Three-dimensional Geometry of Aqueous Micro-foams [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis delves into the dynamics of aqueous foams, essential in varied fields such as cosmetics and oil recovery. It explores how soap-like substances (surfactants) and their varying amounts affect foam's flow, specifically through a process where ...

NATURAL TANNIN-BASED RIGID FOAMS AS INSULATION FOR DOORS AND WALL PANELS

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2008
Tannin-based rigid foams were shown to be good thermal insulating materials for use in the cavity of hollow-core wooden doors and other wooden cavities. Their thermal insulation capacity is comparable to that of totally synthetic, oil-derived foams, such

Parallel Electrical Integration of Photo Bio Electrochemical Systems (photo‐BESs): Performance Gains and Load Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.

Vinyl ester/glass microballoon syntactic foams with low density [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this study, the synthesis and characterization of vinyl ester/glass microballoon syntactic foams with different weight percentages are investigated. Both the tensile and compressive properties of the syntactic foams are characterized.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Heat transfer analysis for phase change materials (PCMs) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The heat transfer enhancement for phase change materials (PCMs) has received much attention nowadays, since most of PCMs have low thermal conductivities which prolong the charging and discharging processes.

Buckling‐Driven Linearity in Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensors Based on a Three‐Dimensional Dual‐Pore Polyurethane Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.
