First-Motion Focal Mechanism Solutions for 2015–2019 M ≥ 4.0 Italian Earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
A list of 100 focal mechanism solutions that occurred in Italy between 2015 and 2019 has been compiled for earthquakes with magnitude M ≥ 4.0. We define earthquake parameters for additional 22 seismic events with 3.0 ≤ M < 4.0 for two specific key zones: Muccia, at the northern termination of the Amatrice–Visso–Norcia 2016–2018 central Italy ...

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2019

Characteristics of Local Geomagnetic Field Variations and the Tectonic Stress Field Adjacent to the 21 May 2021, Ms 6.4 Yangbi Earthquake, Yunnan, China

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The tectonic processes leading up to an earthquake and the occurrence of the earthquake itself will cause local changes in the geophysical field (geomagnetic field, stress field, etc.).

Tectonic Implication of the 5th March 2005, Doublet Earthquake in Ilan, Taiwan

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2016
The 5th March 2005 earthquake doublet focal mechanism was determined as strike-slip faulting from Harvard and BATS moment tensor inversion. However, based on first motion polarities, the first shock has a normal focal mechanism (Wu et al. 2008a).

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2022

2013 Seismic swarm recorded in Galati area, Romania: focal mechanism solutions [PDF]

open access: yesActa Geodaetica et Geophysica, 2016
An unusual seismic swarm started on September 23, 2013, close to Galati city, in Izvoarele region (Romania), and lasted until November 12, 2013. 406 earthquakes were recorded during several phases of seismic activity. The strongest events—a magnitude 3.9 earthquake, occurred on September 29, and two ML 3.8 shocks, occurred on October 3 and 4 ...

Spatiotemporal Variations of Focal Mechanism Solutions and Stress Field of the 2019 Changning Ms 6.0 Earthquake Sequence

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The June 17, 2019, MS 6.0 Changning earthquake is the largest recorded event in the Sichuan basin, spatiotemporal variations of stress field may shed light on the seismogenic mechanism of the earthquake. We determined the focal mechanism solutions (FMSs)

Application of simulated annealing to focal mechanism determination

open access: yes, 2015
Simulated annealing (SA) is known as one of the efficient methods for global optimization. It allows for getting an optimal solution by jumping out of local minimum.
