Swept source optical coherence tomography Gabor fusion splicing technique for microscopy of thick samples using a deformable mirror [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a swept source optical coherence tomography (OCT) system at 1060 nm equipped with a wavefront sensor at 830 nm and a deformable mirror in a closed-loop adaptive optics (AO) system.

Metal diffusion properties of ultra-thin high-k Sc2O3 films

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
The diffusion barrier properties of Sc2O3 against metal diffusion were studied. Tin and ruthenium were used as probe materials to study the barrier properties of Sc2O3 in thickness ranges that are of relevance for gate materials.

Tin etching from metallic and oxidized scandium thin films

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
The role of oxide on Sn adhesion to Sc surfaces was studied with in-situ ellipsometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and secondary electron microscopy.

Extending the depth of focus of fiber-optic optical coherence tomography using a chromatic dual-focus design [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 2018
We report a dual-focus fiber-optic probe designed to extend depth of focus (DOF) in high-resolution endoscopic optical coherence tomography. We exploited the broad spectral bandwidth of a supercontinuum source and, in the fiber probe, the foci of the 750-1000 nm and 1100-1450 nm inputs were axially chromatically shifted.

Structure of high-reflectance La/B-based multilayer mirrors with partial La nitridation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
We investigate a hybrid thin film deposition procedure that significantly enhances reflectivity of La/B based nanoscale multilayer structures to be used as Extreme UV mirrors at 6.7 nm wavelength and beyond. We have analyzed the La-nitridation process in

Atom Interferometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Interference with atomic and molecular matter waves is a rich branch of atomic physics and quantum optics. It started with atom diffraction from crystal surfaces and the separated oscillatory fields technique used in atomic clocks. Atom interferometry is

Considerations on combined-function optics for high-energy storage rings and colliders

open access: yesEPJ Techniques and Instrumentation, 2022
In a recent paper, the proposal of using combined-function optics for the arcs of the Future Circular hadron Collider (FCC–hh) was presented and discussed in detail.

Adaptive optics at the WHT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The WHT is unusually well-placed for exploitation of adaptive-optics (AO) technology. The site seeing is excellent (median 0.7 arcsec), dome seeing is negligible, and preliminary studies indicate that most of the atmospheric seeing originates in a well ...

Focusing Vacuum Fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The focusing of the vacuum modes of a quantized field by a parabolic mirror is investigated. We use a geometric optics approximation to calculate the energy density and mean squared field averages for scalar and electromagnetic fields near the focus.
