Foeniculum vulgare Mill. Artbeschreibung: 80-200 cm hoch, kahl, bläulich bereift, aromatisch, am Grund eine Zwiebel bildend. Blätter 2-3fach gefiedert, mit langen, fadenförmigen Zipfeln. Blattscheiden 2-2,5 cm lang, kapuzenförmig ausgezogen. Dolden meist 10-25strahlig, ohne Hüllen und Hüllchen. Blüten klein, gelb.

Antimicrobial constituents of foeniculum vulgare

A phenyl propanoid derivative, dillapional(1) was found to be a antimicrobial principle of the stems of Foeniculum vulgare (Umbelliferae) with MIC values of 125, 250 and 125/ against Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger and Cladosporium cladosporioides, respectively.
