Aerodynamics Analysis in a Human Vocal Folds Model

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
The aerodynamic analysis to human vocal folds owns great significance on understanding the principles of voice production, clinical disease diagnosis and treatment recommendations tovoice patients. This paper provides experimental data on airflow from a fourtimes scaled physical model. The results indicate that the pressure acting on the surface of the ...

Folding model description of reactions with exotic nuclei

Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2012
Microscopic folding calculations based upon the effective M3Y nucleon-nucleon interaction and the nuclearmatter densities of the interacting nuclei have been carried out to explain recently measured experimental data of the 6He+120Sn elastic scattering cross section at four different laboratory energies near the Coulomb barrier.

Reproducibility and Aging of Different Silicone Vocal Folds Models

Journal of Voice
In this study, silicone vocal fold models with different geometries were manufactured using the common silicone brand EcoFlex 00-30 with typical oil mixing ratios. However, the proportions of oil typically used are higher than the manufacturer's recommended limit, in order to attain the softness of human vocal folds.

Diversity of Folding Pathways and Folding Models of Disulfide Proteins

Antioxidants & Redox Signaling, 2008
Comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of protein folding requires the elucidation of both a folding pathway and a folding model. This entails characterization of the properties and structures of folding intermediates populated along the folding pathway, as well as the formation and interplay of secondary structures and tertiary structures along ...

Twist and fold modelling of supercoiled filaments

2006
Preliminary results on twisting and folding mechanisms of supercoiled filaments are presented. We examine competing kinematic models for single and multiple coil formation, starting from a plane circle and we evaluate the effects of curvature on writhing and packing rates.
