3D-Printed Synthetic Vocal Fold Models
Journal of Voice, 2021Synthetic vocal fold (VF) models used for studying the physics of voice production are comprised of silicone and fabricated using traditional casting processes. The purpose of this study was to develop and demonstrate a new method of creating synthetic VF models through 3D printing in order to reduce model fabrication time, increase yield, and lay the ...

RNA folding: models and perspectives
Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2003Intrinsic events during RNA folding include conformational search and metal ion binding. Several experimentally testable models have been proposed to explain how large ribozymes accomplish folding. Future challenges include the validation of these models, and the correlation of experimental results and theoretical simulations.

\ensuremath{\alpha}-nucleus single-folding cluster optical potentials based upon the \ensuremath{\alpha}-cluster model and an \ensuremath{\alpha}-\ensuremath{\alpha} interaction were generated for $m\ensuremath{\alpha}$-cluster structure targets $(m=3,$ 4, 6, 7, and 8).

Protein design based on folding models
Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2001The basic rules governing the folding of small, single-domain proteins are being discovered. New algorithms that can predict the major features of the folding process give the opportunity to design and optimise protein folding in a rational way. Recent experimental works suggest that sequence-specific features should be integrated in folding models to ...

Bifurcations in an asymmetric vocal-fold model
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995A two-mass model of vocal-fold vibrations is analyzed with methods from nonlinear dynamics. Bifurcations are located in parameter planes of physiological interest (subglottal pressure, stiffness of the folds). It is shown that a sufficiently large tension imbalance of the left and right vocal fold induces bifurcations to subharmonic regimes, toroidal ...

Analyzing energy landscapes for folding model proteins
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006A new benchmark 20-bead HP model protein sequence (on a square lattice), which has 17 distinct but degenerate global minimum (GM) energy structures, has been studied using a genetic algorithm (GA). The relative probabilities of finding particular GM conformations are determined and related to the theoretical probability of generating these structures ...

Folding Models of Mini-Protein FSD-1
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2012We have carried out all-atom action-derived molecular dynamics (ADMD) folding simulations of the full-size FSD-1. FSD-1 is a designed mini-protein of 28 residues containing both α and β secondary structure elements. Multiple folding pathways are found for FSD-1, which is consistent with existing computational studies.

Transient, Highly Populated, Building Blocks Folding Model
Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2001Protein folding is a hierarchical event, in which transiently formed local structural elements assemble to yield the native conformation. In principle, multiple paths glide down the energy landscape, but, in practice, only a few of the paths are highly traveled. Here, the literature is reviewed in this light, and, particularly, a hierarchical, building

$$-deuteron Interaction in Folding Model
2019A simple single folding model for $ $-deuteron with maximal spin $\left(I\right)J^{P}=\left(0\right)5/2^{+}$ is investigated. $ $ is assumed to orbit an unperturbed deuteron in a $ $-deuteron potential based on a separable $ $-nucleon potential from lattice QCD.
