The maize mitogen‐activated protein kinase kinase kinase gene ZmMAPKKK45 is associated with multiple disease resistance

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Southern leaf blight (SLB), caused by the necrotrophic fungus Cochliobolus heterostrophus, is a major foliar disease of maize (Zea mays) world‐wide. A genome‐wide association study was performed to dissect the genetic basis of SLB resistance in maize. Functional validation was performed using mutant and transgenic analyses.

Bio-agent based module for integrated management of sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) of rice

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important cereal crop consumed worldwide and sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani Künh is one of the limiting factors for its sustainable production. The experiments were conducted during rainy seasons of 2013 and 2014

Foliar Sprays to Control Worms in Soybeans, 1995 [PDF]

open access: yesArthropod Management Tests, 1996
Abstract Soybeans were drill planted on 15 Jun in a commercial field near Painter, VA. Each plot consisted of a 50 ft long by 5 ft wide row, bordered on each side by 1 ft of bare ground. Treatments were replicated 4 times in a RCB design. Treatments were applied with a backpack sprayer using 3 nozzles/row and delivering 18 gpa at 40 psi.

From bacterial predators to partners: phages in agriculture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Bacteriophages, viruses that infect bacteria, are critical players for shaping the taxonomic and functional composition of plant‐associated microbiomes. Yet, their roles in plant health remain overlooked, along with their implications for sustainable agriculture.

Study on the curative and eradicant action of fungicide combinations to control late blight in potato [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Commercial fungicide combinations were tested in the field for efficacy on foliar late blight caused by Phytophthora infestans in substitution of tin. When the first disease symptoms appeared, the tested fungicide treatments for late blight control were ...

ZmTH1 Is Vital for Healthy Plant Growth and Promotes Cold/Drought Tolerance by Regulating Thiamin Diphosphate‐Dependent Metabolisms in Maize

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vitamin B1 (VB1) plays a crucial role in sustaining plant health and enabling adaptive responses to environmental stress. The complex maize genome implies a sophisticated VB1 synthesis pathway, with the mechanisms by which VB1 benefits plants remaining elusive.

MicroRNA‐Induced Gene Silencing (MIGS): A Tool for Multi‐Gene Silencing and Targeting Viruses in Plants

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since its discovery, RNA interference (RNAi, also known as gene silencing) has been a key tool to downregulate gene expression in plants for a range of applications, including protection against viruses. Many of these applications require the silencing of multiple genes concomitantly.
