Correction of iron deficiency in peas by foliar sprays

A severe iron deficiency in peas grown on grey to black clay loam soil overlying limestone (rendzina) was successfully ameliorated by foliar application of ferrous sulphate. Two applications, three weeks apart, increased the fresh weight of peas harvested by more than 100 per cent (P < 0.001).

Abstract ‘Russet Burbank’ potatoes were plantd on 13 Apr., in Ritzville silt loam soil (Mesic Calciorthidic Haploxerolls) pH 6.2 and organic matter 1.6% at Yakima, Wash. The insecticides were applied with a two-row, four nozzle (TeeJet AI 80015) portable boom CO2-powered sprayer at 50 lb/in2 in 50 gal of water per acre on 9 June.

Abstract Plots were located in a commercial hop yard near Greenleaf, Idaho. Each plot consisted of eight hills. Treatments were arranged in a randomized block with four replicates. Aphid treatments were applied 11 July with a truck mounted sprayer with hose and handgun that applied 75 gal/acre at 100 lb/in2 .
