Characteristics of reduced fat milks as influenced by the incorporation of folic acid [PDF]
Folic acid plays an important role in the prevention of neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly, heart defects, facial clefts, urinary abnormalities and limb deficiencies. Milk and milk products serve as a potential source for folic acid

The Factors of the Classification of Protein Amino Acids [PDF]
In this work it is shown that three pairs of the factors appear to be the key, i.e. main factors of a natural classification of protein (canonical) amino acids within the amino acid (genetic) code. First pair: the factors of the habit of an amino acid molecule (size and polarity).

Safety and benefits of interventions to increase folate status in malaria-endemic areas. [PDF]
For decades, folic acid has routinely been given to prevent or treat anaemia in children, pregnant women and people with sickle cell disease. However, there is no conclusive evidence that folate deficiency anaemia constitutes a public health problem in ...

Promising Prodiginins Biological Activities
ABSTRACT Prodiginins are a large family of at least 34 pyrrolic compounds, including the well‐studied red pigment prodigiosin. Prodiginins are produced by several microorganisms displaying broad biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiproliferative, and immunosuppressive activities.

For therapeutic genome editing, efficient and cell‐specific transport of the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR‐associated protein 9 (Cas9) system into target cells is desirable. Here, folic acid‐modified Cas9 ribonucleoprotein nanocarriers are presented, which mediate enhanced gene modification in folate receptor

Modeling of the formation of short-chain acids in propane flames [PDF]
In order to better understand their potential formation in combustion systems, a detailed kinetic mechanism for the formation of short-chain monocarboxylic acids, formic (HCOOH), acetic (CH3COOH), propionic (C2H5COOH) and propenic (C2H3COOH)) acids, has been developed. Simulations of lean (equivalence ratios from 0.9 to 0.48) laminar premixed flames of

Assessing Folic Acid Awareness and its Usage for the Prevention of Neural Tube Defects Among Pregnant Women in Jos, Nigeria [PDF]
Background: In the precent study, firm evidences indicate that folic acid supplementation during the peri‑conceptional period reduces the risk of having a baby with neural tube defects.Aim: To ascertain the level of awareness about folic acid, its use ...
