Hearing Performance in the Follicular-Luteal Phase of the Menstrual Cycle [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Otolaryngology, 2018
Introduction. Estrogen has a protective role on auditory function. It may have an excitatory action on auditory nerve fibers and can have a neuroprotective effect. Progesterone has a mainly inhibitory action on the central nervous system, which may balance the mainly excitatory action of estrogen. Objective.

Menstrual cycle phase and sexual arousability in women [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
__Abstract__ Sexual arousability of women has not been consistently found to vary significantly over phases of the menstrual cycle. We studied changes in the temperature of a labium minus and subjective sexual and genital arousal recorded on semantic ...

Gonadotropin in follicular phase in women with luteal phase defect.

open access: yesThe Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1979
Serum FSH and LH in women with luteal phase defect were measured. Their serum FSH and LH were lower than those in normal women and higher than those in women with amenorrhea. Administration of clomiphene citrate to the women with luteal phase defect were effective in 2/3 of the cases.

A self-excited threshold autoregressive state-space model for menstrual cycles: forecasting menstruation and identifying ovarian phases based on basal body temperature [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine 38 (2019) 2157-2170, 2017
The menstrual cycle is composed of the follicular phase and subsequent luteal phase based on events occurring in the ovary. Basal body temperature (BBT) reflects this biphasic aspect of menstrual cycle and tends to be relatively low during the follicular phase.

Field-of-view optimized and constrained undistorted single-shot study of intravoxel incoherent motion and diffusion-weighted imaging of the uterus during the menstrual cycle: a prospective study

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2023
PURPOSEThis study aimed to compare the variability of the uterus during the menses phase (MP), follicular phase (FP), and luteal phase (LP) of the menstrual cycle using intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI).METHODSThis ...

Analyzing physiological signals recorded with a wearable sensor across the menstrual cycle using circular statistics

open access: yesFrontiers in Network Physiology, 2023
This study aims to identify the most significant features in physiological signals representing a biphasic pattern in the menstrual cycle using circular statistics which is an appropriate analytic method for the interpretation of data with a periodic ...

Assessment of Well-Being Across Menstrual Phases in Female Students

open access: yesWomen's Health Reports, 2023
Purpose: In this study, we determined female nursing students' physical and mental state involvement by measuring heart rate variability and salivary ?-amylase activity (?AMY).

The weakest link bridging germinal center B cells and follicular dendritic cells limits antibody affinity maturation [PDF]

open access: yesBioEssays, 2021, 2020
The affinity of antibodies (Abs) produced in vivo for their target antigens (Ags) is typically well below the maximum affinity possible. Nearly 25 years ago, Foote and Eisen explained how an 'affinity ceiling' could arise from constraints associated with the acquisition of soluble antigen by B cells.

Bifurcation-based parameter tuning in a model of the GnRH pulse and surge generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate a model of the GnRH pulse and surge generator, with the definite aim of constraining the model GnRH output with respect to a physiologically relevant list of specifications. The alternating pulse and surge pattern of secretion results from

Steroid profile of porcine follicular fluid and blood serum: Relation with follicular development

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2019
The aim of this study was to identify follicular fluid (FF) steroids which reflect follicular development in the early stages of the follicular phase and to establish whether the levels of these FF steroids correspond to their levels in serum.
