Ultrasonic and endocrinologic relationships in spontaneous and induced follicular phase

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1988
To correlate ovarian growth and follicular size with 17 beta-estradiol (E2) and androstenedione (A) peripheral levels, 20 induced cycles, 6 spontaneous ovulatory cycles and 6 spontaneous anovulatory cycles from 32 women during follicular phase were examined in order to obtain a better insight in the events involved in multiple folliculogenesis.

The importance of the follicular phase to success and failure in in vitro fertilization

Fertility and Sterility, 1983
One hundred seventy-five cycles in patients with irreparable tubal disease were stimulated by human menopausal gonadotropin/human chorionic gonadotropin for the purpose of in vitro fertilization. As judged by the height of the peripheral estradiol response, the patients were classified as high, intermediate, or low responders.

Ultrasonographic monitoring of follicular growth for luteal phase defects

Fertility and Sterility, 1987
In the evaluation of 39 patients with untreated and treated luteal phase defect (LPD), serial ultrasonographic monitoring of follicular development identified three morphologically distinct growth patterns: normal-sized follicles, small follicles, and luteinized-unruptured follicles.

Premature elevation of systemic estradiol reduces serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone and lengthens the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle in rhesus monkeys.

Endocrinology, 1981
The concentration of estradiol in peripheral serum was prematurely elevated on days 3-6 of the rhesus monkey menstrual cycle to approximate the estradiol rise typically seen during the midfollicular phase.

Absence of follicular phase defect in women with recurrent miscarriage

Fertility and Sterility, 2006
The study was designed to compare the follicular phase of women with recurrent pregnancy loss and a healthy control group. It is possible that a defective or aberrant follicular phase may be associated with poor oocyte quality leading to a production of an embryo with compromised quality and hence early pregnancy loss.Prospective case-control study.A ...

Acute gonadotropin release induced by exogenous estradiol during the mid-follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.

Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1972
During the mid-follicular phase of the cycle (D7-9), a rapid increase in serum estradiol levels was induced via 17β-estradiol infusion, ethinyl estradiol and estradiol benzoate administration in a fashion simulating the pre-ovulatory rise and this ...

Decreased Follicular Phase Gonadotropin Secretion Is Associated with Impaired Estradiol and Progesterone Secretion during the Follicular and Luteal Phases in Normally Menstruating Women

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1989
We tested the hypothesis that disturbed follicular development and disturbed luteal progesterone (P4) secretion are associated with reduced gonadotropin secretion in the early follicular phase by measuring pulsatile LH and FSH secretion at that time in 53 normally menstruating women.

A role for estradiol in enhancing luteinizing hormone pulse frequency during the follicular phase of the estrous cycle of sheep.

Endocrinology, 1983
Experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis that the increased frequency of LH pulses during the follicular phase of the sheep estrous cycle can be explained by the withdrawal of progesterone.
