Novel and emerging skin carcinomas and adnexal tumours

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
The present review aims to provide an overview of the main emerging skin epithelial tumours, with particular emphasis on salivary gland analogue sweat gland tumours and poorly differentiated carcinomas. Epidermal and adnexal tumours of the skin constitute a complex and heterogeneous group of neoplasms, with distinct morphology and behaviour.

Follicular thyroid carcinoma with metastasis to skin diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2008
In April 2006, a 55-year-old female presented with a thyroid mass and multiple skin nodules on scalp, forehead and neck. Fine needle aspiration cytology of thyroid mass and multiple skin nodules show tumor cells clusters in a repetitive microfollicular ...

An Unusal Presentation of Follicular Carcinoma of Thyroid [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences University, 2019
Although the incidence of thyroid carcinoma has increased in recent years, metastatic spread to the skull is rare. Here we report a case of an occult follicular thyroid carcinoma. A 65 year old female patient presented with a large swelling of 20 × 20 cm

HMGA2 is a highly sensitive marker for DICER1‐related tumours

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Aims DICER1 is a microRNA biogenesis enzyme that, when mutated, results in a rewiring of the transcriptome. Germline pathogenic variants (PVs) in DICER1 result in DICER1‐related tumour predisposition (DRTP) characterized by 30 or more different, generally rare, paediatric or adolescent‐onset tumours.

Scalp Dysesthesia: Emerging Pathophysiologic Insights and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Scalp dysesthesia is a chronic condition diagnosed through exclusion. This scoping review synthesized data from 59 patients to identify recurrent clinical features, comorbidities, and management strategies that may support earlier diagnosis. Emerging patterns suggest that neuronal sensitization may underlie common symptoms.

Investigation of Oncogenic Gene Mutation and Associated Protein Expression in Ameloblastic Carcinoma

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate gene mutations in ameloblastic carcinoma (AC) including BRAF, KRAS, and PIK3CA, along with associated protein expressions of BRAF V600E, p‐ERK1/2, and p‐mTOR, which represent activation of MAPK/ERK and PI3K/mTOR pathways, respectively.

UbcH10 is useful in the diagnosis and prognosis of human neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The UbcH10 gene belongs to the E2 gene family and encodes for a 19.6 kDa protein involved in ubiquitin-dependent proteolysis. The hybridization of an Affymetrix HG_U95Av2 microarray led us to highlight that this gene is up-regulated by 150 fold in all of

Understanding extracellular vesicles in antiaging

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Aging is a multifactorial process marked by gradual cellular dysregulation, regulated by hallmarks, including genomic instability, mitochondrial dysregulation, and chronic inflammation. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, have emerged as pivotal mediators of cell‐to‐cell communication with potential roles in both ...

EVALUATION OF HISTONE DEACETYLASE INHIBITOR EFFECTS ON THYROID CANCER [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Histone deacetylases (HDACs) play a crucial role in the proper regulation of cellular functions through their connection with chromatin and transcriptional regulation.
