Pediatric Cardiology, 2007
In the decades preceding the Fontan operation, there was an intensive experimental and clinical quest to bypass the right heart. Experiences with the Fontan Operation
The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 1982Up to December 1980 we performed 21 Fontan operations: 8 for tricuspid atresia and 13 for a functional monoventricle. Although palliative, the operation is currently a good method of treating tricuspid atresia. In our experience, the use of a sufficiently large atriopulmonary valved conduit assures a more satisfactory immediate postoperative ...

A Porthole on the Fontan Circuit
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2022The Fontan operation, using an external conduit, is no exception. From the chest x-ray film one can only appreciate the change in the shape of the heart and chest to heart ratio before and after the operation. However, a new graft conduit with radiographic markers has been introduced as a possible external conduit for Fontan’s palliation and is visible
