Current Advances in Ochratoxin A-Degrading Enzymes [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Ochratoxin A (OTA) poses a serious threat to human and animal health as well as the ecological environment due to its high toxicity, stable physicochemical properties, and widespread occurrence in food and feed.

EU Inspections of GM Content in Food and Feed: Are They Effective?

open access: yesAgriculture, 2021
We investigate the effectiveness of inspecting regimes in controlling food and feed products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) non-compliant with European Commission (EC) regulations (i.e., a food/feed import containing above the 0.9% GM ...

Labeling of genetically modified food and consumers' rights [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2014
The legal regulation of genetically modified food directly affects consumers, since they are the ones who encounter genetically modified food on the shelves every day.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Longitudinal multi-omics decipher chlorinated paraffin 52 disruption of gut-brain axis homeostasis in HFD-fed mice

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The global rise in metabolic diseases linked to high-fat diet (HFD) patterns has coincided with the emergence of chlorinated paraffins (CPs) as persistent, toxic environmental contaminants detected across food systems, raising dual concerns for public ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
