Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

DETERMINATION OF DIBUTYL PHTHALATE (DBP), BENZYL BUTYL PHTHALATE (BBP) AND BIS (2-ETHYLHEXYL) PHTHALATE (DEHP) IN SOFT PLASTIC TOYS AND THE FIRST SURVEY OF THE BULGARIAN MARKET

open access: yesFood and Environment Safety, 2017
Phthalates are a large group of compounds with similar chemical structure widely used as plasticizers for plastics. They can easily be released from the polymer during usage and in this way enter the human body. Their adverse effect on health is known as

Annual Activity Report 2012: European Union Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In 2012, three interlaboratory comparisons (ILC) were completed. The ILCs were 1) The evaluation of a method for migration into a dry material (Tenax) that officially simulates all dry foods, 2) A determination of melamine and of formaldehyde in 3 ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Guidelines for performance criteria and validation procedures of analytical methods used in controls of food contact materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Test methods for materials and articles in contact with foodstuffs are required to determine the concentration of residues of monomers in the materials themselves or to determine the concentration of individual or groups of substances in food (or food ...
