Model for force fluctuations in bead packs [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 1996
We study theoretically the complex network of forces that is responsible for the static structure and properties of granular materials. We present detailed calculations for a model in which the fluctuations in the force distribution arise because of variations in the contact angles and the constraints imposed by the force balance on each bead of the ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Recipes for How to Force Oceanic Model Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2020
The current feedback to the atmosphere (CFB) contributes to the oceanic circulation by damping eddies. In an ocean‐atmosphere coupled model, CFB can be correctly accounted for by using the wind relative to the oceanic current. However, its implementation

Using 3D Model and Simulation to Support the Force-on-Force Test of Physical Protection System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
A Physical Protection System (PPS) protect critical assets and nuclear materials of the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) from a malicious attack to avoid an unacceptable radioactive consequence. The growing threat of terrorism makes NPPs a huge challenge. After

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Prediction of Nonlinear Micro-Milling Force with a Novel Minimum Uncut Chip Thickness Model

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
The minimum uncut chip thickness (MUCT), dividing the cutting zone into the shear region and the ploughing region, has a strong nonlinear effect on the cutting force of micro-milling.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Forcing with Non-wellfounded Models

open access: yesThe Australasian Journal of Logic, 2007
We develop the machinery for performing forcing over an arbitrary (possibly non-wellfounded) model of set theory. For consistency results, this machinery is unnecessary since such results can always be legitimately obtained by assuming that the ground model is (countable) transitive.
