A mathematical model of forced drying is studied, showing that there exists a correspondence between the physical situation and the abstract model. The time asymptotic behaviour is established in certain limiting cases including a scalar conservation law on a semi-infinite domain.

RESEARCH ON EVACUATION BASED ON SOCIAL FORCE MODEL [PDF]
Crowded centers always cause personnel casualties in evacuation operations. Stampede events often occur by hit, squeeze and crush due to panic. It is of vital important to alleviate such situation.

The driving force of labor force participation in developed countries [PDF]
The evolution of labor force participation rate is modeled using a lagged linear function of real economic growth, as expressed by GDP per capita. For the U.S., our model predicts at a two-year horizon with RMSFE of 0.28% for the period between 1965 and ...

Force-exertion-related activity in the force discounting and target detection tasks.
(A–E) Summary (mean and SEM) of the coefficients of the neuron-by-neuron GLMs for spike count during action (force exertion) with (A) task parameters (force category and reward) or (B) the maximum exerted force on the grip alone, (C) task parameters and ...

Necessary Conditions for Running through a Flange by Using Planetary-Geared Magnetic Wheels
To discuss and consider the necessary conditions for magnetic-wheeled robots with planetary-geared magnetic wheels, this paper provides comparing static calculations about three orientations in running a flange with real experiments. SCPREM-I, a magnetic-

Casimir force for the CPN−1 model
In this work, we derive exact self-consistent solutions to the gap equations of the CPN−1 model on a finite interval with Dirichlet boundary conditions in the large-N approximation.

Modelling Society's Evolutionary Forces [PDF]
If local circumstances can generate local social trends, it follows that global circumstances can generate global trends. Furthermore, modern global circumstances match the conditions used to create artificial evolutionary systems. If it is possible for evolutionary forces to arise in global society, then it is possible that key forces shaping global ...

Linear stationary iterative methods for the force-based quasicontinuum approximation [PDF]
Force-based multiphysics coupling methods have become popular since they provide a simple and efficient coupling mechanism, avoiding the difficulties in formulating and implementing a consistent coupling energy.

ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...
