Electric vehicle battery thermal management system with thermoelectric cooling

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2019
An experimental investigation is performed on an advanced battery thermal management system for emerging electric vehicles. The developed battery thermal management system is a combination of thermoelectric cooling, forced air cooling, and liquid cooling.

Large scale immersion bath for isothermal testing of lithium-ion cells

open access: yesHardwareX, 2022
Testing of lithium-ion batteries depends greatly on accurate temperature control in order to generate reliable experimental data. Reliable data is essential to parameterise and validate battery models, which are essential to speed up and reduce the cost ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

FORCED‐AIR COOLING AFTER AIR‐SHIPMENT DELAYS ASPARAGUS DETERIORATION

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2003
ABSTRACTAsparagus (cv. Locullus) was stored at 20C for 20 h to simulate time delays and temperature typically encountered during air‐shipment operations. After that period, asparagus were immediately forced‐air cooled at 1C, or room cooled at 1C or 10C, or stored at 20C to simulate different facility conditions usually available at the airports.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

EFFECT OF FORCED AIR COOLING ON EFFICIENCY OF PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE [PDF]

open access: yesMisr Journal of Agricultural Engineering, 2019
A photovoltaic is a system that converts solar energy into an electric power. During generation electricity from solar energy using photovoltaic modules, high surface temperature is caused by the absorption of thermal energy which leads to a decrease the efficiency of the module.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Air Resistance Estimation of Air-forced Cooling Heat Sink Duct and Fan Selection in Power Module

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2017
In order to determine the air resistance of heat sink duct in air-forced cooling for selecting more accurate and reasonable fan, it briefly analyzed the required volume of air-forced cooling by taking the rectangular-fin heat sink as an example and put ...
