Fully Printed Electrocaloric Heat Pump

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A system based on a flexible printed PEDOT:PSS/P(VDF‐TrFE‐CFE) electrocaloric membrane. The membrane periodically alternates between the cold and hot sides following its electrocaloric cycle and successfully generates a temperature difference. The entire fabrication process is industrially scalable, cost‐effective, and based on widely accessible ...

Simulation of Dendritic Morphology and Constituent Distribution of Al-4.7%Cu Alloy Under Convection

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2016
A new two-dimensional modeling approach combining the cellular automaton(CA) and the lattice Boltzmann model(LBM) was developed to simulate heat transport, fluid flow, solute diffusion, and dendritic growth in the process of the Al-4.7%Cu solidification ...

Bubble lift-off size in forced convection subcooled boiling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Forced convection subcooled boiling experiments were conducted in a BWR-scaled vertical upward annular channel. Water was used as the testing fluid, and the tests were performed at atmospheric pressure.

The Generalized Graetz Problem in Finite Domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the generalized Graetz problem associated with stationary convection-diffusion inside a domain having any regular three-dimensional translationally invariant section and finite or semi-infinite extent.

Plasmon‐Induced Optothermal Manipulation of Colloidal Particles and Biological Entities Resilient to Saline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The particle with high surface hydrophilicity exhibits strong thermophoretic attraction, as its dense hydration layer enhances the role of interfacial water molecules in determining thermophoretic mobility over other ionic effects. This finding elucidates the mechanism underlying the robust thermophoretic accumulation of Escherichia coli in high ...

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Experimental study of the effect of vertical vibrations on forced convection heat transfer coefficient from circumferentially finned cylinder [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
The aim of this work is to perform an experimental study for the effect of forced vertical vibrations on forced convection heat transfer coefficient, by the use of circumferential finned cylinder made of Aluminum.
