Solar-like to Antisolar Differential Rotation: A Geometric Interpretation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The solar convection zone rotates differentially, with its equatorial region rotating more rapidly than the polar regions. This form of differential rotation, also observed in many other low-mass stars, is understood to arise when Coriolis effects are stronger than those associated with buoyant driving of the convection.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER OF A SINGLE-ROW BUNDLE OF FINNED TUBES IN MIXED CONVECTION OF AIR

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений и энергетических объединенний СНГ: Энергетика, 2017
The technique and results of experimental study of heat transfer of a single bundle consisting of bimetallic tubes with helically knurled edges, in natural and mixed convection of air are presented. Mixed convection, i.e.

Heat exchange processes in volume of fire-tube boiler with non-water heat transfer fluid [PDF]

open access: yesОмский научный вестник, 2018
The article proposes a solution to problems associated with hightemperature heating. The main advantages of high-temperature heat transfer fluid are given. A description is given of the design of a fire-tube boiler and its main components (furnaces and

Aggregation under a forced convective flow [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1992
Morphological transitions are analyzed for a radial multiparticle diffusion-limited aggregation process grown under a convective drift. The introduction of a tangential flow changes the morphology of the diffusion-limited structure, into multiarm structures, inclined opposite to the flow, whose limit consists of single arms, when decreasing density ...

Glycine Dissolution Behavior under Forced Convection

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The integration of a flow-through cell into a Mach–Zehnder interferometer offers the possibility to study the dissolution of crystals in detail. The influence of flow on the displacement velocity of a specific crystal facet and the distribution of the ...

Performance and sustainability evaluation of rice husk-powered dryer under natural and forced convection mode

open access: yesEngineering and Applied Science Research, 2023
Sun drying method has been used for drying agricultural commodities for centuries worldwide. The sun drying can be performed either by direct drying of the product under sunlight or drying using a solar collector-based dryer.

Investigating the cooling of solar photovoltaic modules under the conditions of Riyadh

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2023
Cooling enhances the energy conversion efficiency and output of photovoltaic (PV) panels. In this work, the effects of natural convection, forced convection, and evaporative cooling on the performance of polycrystalline PV panels were investigated.

Mechanisms for convection triggering by cold pools [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 42(6), 1943-1950, 2015
Cold pools are fundamental ingredients of deep convection. They contribute to organizing the sub-cloud layer and are considered key elements in triggering convective cells. It was long known that this could happen mechanically, through lifting by the cold pools' fronts.

Morphology and Distribution of α-Al and Mn-rich Phases in Al-Si-Mn Alloys under an Electromagnetic Stirring [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2023
Convection caused by gravity and forced flow are present during casting. The effect of forced convection generated by a rotating magnetic field on the microstructure and precipitating phases in eutectic and hypoeutectic AlSiMn alloys was studied in ...

Schwarzschild and Ledoux are equivalent on evolutionary timescales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Stellar evolution models calculate convective boundaries using either the Schwarzschild or Ledoux criterion, but confusion remains regarding which criterion to use. Here we present a 3D hydrodynamical simulation of a convection zone and adjacent radiative zone, including both thermal and compositional buoyancy forces.
