Planet Migration through a Self-Gravitating Planetesimal Disk [PDF]
We simulate planet migration caused by interactions between planets and a planetesimal disk. We use an N-body integrator optimized for near-Keplerian motion that runs in parallel on a video graphics card, and that computes all pair-wise gravitational interactions. We find that the fraction of planetesimals found in mean motion resonances is reduced and

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.

Period ratios in multi-planetary systems discovered by Kepler are consistent with planet migration [PDF]
The Kepler planet candidates are an interesting testbed for planet formation scenarios. We present results from N-body simulations of multi-planetary systems that resemble those observed by Kepler. We add both smooth (Type I/II) and stochastic migration forces. The observed period ratio distribution is inconsistent with either of those two scenarios on

Conceptual Problems in Forced Migration
Scholars have made rapid progress in establishing the field of Refugee Studies/Forced Migration Studies over the past 30 years. It has emerged from both the moral imperative of ameliorating the suffering of the displaced and from academic interests of scholars considering involuntary migration from the perspectives of sociology, geography, political ...

A novel technique for fabricating monolithic functionally graded NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) laminated hybrid composite has been developed. An excellent metallurgical bonding can be established between two compositionally different NiTi SMAs through spark plasma sintering joining/diffusion bonding followed by hot roll bonding.
