Identification of avian flapping motion from non-volant winged dinosaurs based on modal effective mass analysis.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2019
The origin of avian flight is one of the most controversial debates in Paleontology. This paper investigates the wing performance of Caudipteryx, the most basal non-volant dinosaur with pennaceous feathered forelimbs by using modal effective mass theory.

Si‐Doped Nanocrystalline Diamond as Highly Sensitive Luminescence Thermometer for the Physiological Temperature Range

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, diamonds with negative charged silicon‐vacancy (SiV−) centers have been designed for use as thermometers in biomedical applications. Multiparametric analysis of the emission characteristics of the SiV− centers provides extraordinary sensitivity for temperature detection in the physiological temperature range.

Development of Multifunctional Hierarchically Restructured Antibacterial Neural Interfacing Electrodes via Plasma‐Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Zinc Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation implantable neural‐interfacing devices are increasingly constrained by the coupled demands of electrode miniaturization, electrochemical performance, and implantation infection risk. Femtosecond laser–based hierarchical surface restructuring (HSR) technology has emerged as a scalable, manufacturing‐compatible platform for ...

Tannic Acid‐Modified Cellulose Nanofiber Reinforced Polymerizable Eutectogels for High‐Performance Stretchable Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymerizable deep eutectic solvent is reinforced with tannic acid‐modified cellulose nanofibers to construct a hierarchical dynamic eutectogel network. Synergistic covalent and reversible interactions impart ultrahigh stretchability, high ionic conductivity, broad temperature tolerance, self‐healing, and strong adhesion, enabling robust wearable ...

Dopant Distribution in Ga‐Implanted CdO—A Correlative Microscopy and Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that ion implantation offset angle could modulate carrier concentration and mobility in cadmium oxide thin films. Combining correlative microscopy workflow and molecular dynamics simulations, this study reveals the control of interfacial cluster density with tailoring implantation angles, and the optimum offset angle that ...

Effects of mode couplings on the vibration characteristics of partially electroded thin-film bulk acoustic wave resonators

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Mode coupling vibrations in thin-film bulk acoustic wave resonators (FBARs) were systematically analyzed in the series of our work. Previously, the two-dimensional theory of multi-layered FBAR plate has been established and used for the analysis of both ...
