Abstract We present a new 3D Hikurangi subduction interface model by using an implicit modeling approach that integrates seismic‐reflection profiles, relocated hypocenters, focal mechanism orientations, and tomographic interpretations. The model reveals along‐strike transitions in slow slip events (SSEs) that correlate with subduction interface ...

Subduction of Submarine Arc Volcanoes Beneath the Solomon Islands Arc
In the Solomon Islands, arc magmas are erupting on the subducting Australia Plate. These island (Simbo) and submarine arc volcanoes (Kana Keoki, Coleman and Pavuvu) are about to be recycled by rapid subduction.

The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan
ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

Evolving Subduction Zone Thermal Structure Drives Extensive Forearc Mantle Wedge Hydration
Hydration of the subduction zone forearc mantle wedge influences the downdip distribution of seismicity, the availability of fluids for arc magmatism, and Earth's long term water cycle.
