Distributions of forecasting errors of forecast combinations: Implications for inventory management [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Production Economics, 2016
Inventory control systems rely on accurate and robust forecasts of future demand to support decisions such as setting of safety stocks. The combination of multiple forecasts is shown to be effective not only in reducing forecast errors, but also in being less sensitive to limitations of a single model.

Forecasting distributed energy resources adoption for power systems

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Failing to incorporate accurate distributed energy resource penetration forecasts into long-term resource and transmission planning can lead to cost inefficiencies at best and system failures at worst. We have developed an open-source tool that employs an advanced Bass specification to calibrate and forecast technology adoption.

Multi-resolution, multi-horizon distributed solar PV power forecasting with forecast combinations

open access: yesExpert Systems with Applications, 2022
Distributed, small-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are being installed at a rapidly increasing rate. This can cause major impacts on distribution networks and energy markets. As a result, there is a significant need for improved forecasting of the power generation of these systems at different time resolutions and horizons.

Wastewater flow forecasting model based on the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) neural network

open access: yesH2Open Journal, 2021
Wastewater flow forecasts are key components in the short- and long-term management of sewer systems. Forecasting flows in sewer networks constitutes a considerable uncertainty for operators due to the nonlinear relationship between causal variables and ...
