Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Gold Nanoclusters as Dual Agents for Engineering Tumor Vascular Leakiness and Performing Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Many cancer nanotherapeutics, while potent, suffer from the inability to escape from the tumor vasculature, especially in the absence of endothelial permeability. In this work, ultrasmall gold nanoclusters could engineer nanomaterials induced endothelial leakiness (NanoEL) and harness strong NIR induced photothermal characteristics to suppress tumor ...

Renal Neoformation: A Diagnosis to Consider

open access: yesGazeta Médica, 2022
Renal granulomas related to suture material are rare and usually accidental findings in imagiological studies. A 12-year-old boy, followed-up after Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty 7 years before, was submitted to an ultrasonography that described a solid ...

Large gastric ulcer: Result of foreign body-induced giant cell reaction

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Endoscopy, 2013
A granuloma is an organized and compact mass of mature mononuclear phagocytes. Granulomas are reported to form in various organs and sites of the body. Granulomas in stomach are rarely encountered.

Phenotypic dichotomies in the foreign body reaction [PDF]

open access: yesBiomaterials, 2007
To better understand the relationship between macrophage/foreign body giant cell adhesion and activation on surface-modified biomaterials, quantitative assessment of adherent cell density (cells per mm(2)) and cytokine production (pgs per mL) were determined by ELISA.

Artifact‐Minimizing Ultrathin Transparent Electrodes Fabricated via iCVD for In Vivo Optogenetic Stimulation and Neural Signal Monitoring of Primary Visual Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present ultrathin flexible transparent electrodes through iCVD‐enabled molecular control of 10 nm gold films on poly(dimethylaminomethylstyrene). In vivo validation demonstrated photoelectric artifact reduction vs. opaque electrodes and preservation of natural neural dynamics.

Unusual lymphadenopathy diagnosed by endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease, 2022
Oxidized cellulose, used as hemostatic in thoracic surgery, may cause in some cases foreign body reactions, and simulate other diseases. We report the case of a 39-year-old man operated on a middle lobe lobectomy for atypical carcinoid.
