Forensic Applications of Infrared Imaging for the Detection and Recording of Latent Evidence

open access: yes, 2008
We report on a simple method to record infrared (IR) reflected images in a forensic science context. Light sources using ultraviolet light have been used previously in the detection of latent prints, but the use of infrared light has been subjected to ...

Identification of Synthetic Urine by Analysis of Stable Carbon and Nitrogen Isotope Ratios and Comparison to Established GC‐MS/MS and LC‐MS/MS Analysis

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
This study compared GC‐MS/MS, EA‐IRMS, and LC‐MS/MS for detecting synthetic and manipulated urine samples in doping control and forensic analysis. EA‐IRMS proved particularly effective for identifying mixtures of synthetic and authentic urine, providing a reliable complement to established authenticity testing methods.

Detection of Testosterone Esters in Urine: Evidence of Trace‐Level Detectability in Doping Control Samples

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
An ultrasensitive LC‐MS/MS method for detecting testosterone esters (T‐esters) in urine at sub–pg/mL levels is presented. This approach, employing Girard P derivatization, provides the first evidence of T‐esters' trace‐level detectability in human urine.

An Investigation of patterns of mammalian scavenging in relation to vertebrate skeletal remains in a Northwestern European context: forensic applications.

open access: yes, 2013
Mammalian scavenging, disarticulating, scattering and removal of human remains can alter and obscure both soft tissue and skeletal remains which are essential to making interpretations and identifications during forensic investigations.

The forensic analysis of soils and sediment taken from the cast of a footprint

open access: yes, 2006
The routine production of a cast of a shoe-print taken in soil provides information other than shoe size and gait. Material adhering to the surface of the cast represents the preservation of the moment of footprint impression.
