Project Maelstrom: Forensic Analysis of the BitTorrent-Powered Browser [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law (Proc. of 10th International Conference on Systematic Approaches to Digital Forensic Engineering, SADFE 2015), 2015
In April 2015, BitTorrent Inc. released their distributed peer-to-peer powered browser, Project Maelstrom, into public beta. The browser facilitates a new alternative website distribution paradigm to the traditional HTTP-based, client-server model. This decentralised web is powered by each of the visitors accessing each Maelstrom hosted website.

OSHA and the Forensic Engineer

open access: yesJournal of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers, 1991
To understand how a forensic engineer can best utilize or interface with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration it is necessary to understand something of the agency and its purpose. Congress in enacting PL91-596, also known as the Williams-Stieger or Occupational Safety and Health Act, stated as the purpose to assure so far as possible ...

Analytical and behavioral characterization of 1‐hexanoyl‐LSD (1H‐LSD)

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Analytical and pharmacological data were obtained from 1‐hexanoyl‐LSD (1H‐LSD). The mouse head‐twitch response revealed that 1H‐LSD induced LSD‐like effects (ED50 = 387 nmol/kg). The behavioral and analytical characterization of novel lysergamides aim to extend the understanding of structure–activity relationships and disseminate data for those ...

In vitro metabolism study of ADB‐P‐5Br‐INACA and ADB‐4en‐P‐5Br‐INACA using human hepatocytes, liver microsomes, and in‐house synthesized references

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Analyzing hepatocytes and liver microsomes samples along with synthesized references. Complete structure elucidation of major metabolites was possible, and biomarkers for both ADB‐P‐5Br‐INACA and ADB‐4en‐P‐5Br‐INACA were suggested. Abstract Synthetic cannabinoids (SCs) remain a major public health concern, as they continuously are linked to severe ...

Mercaptans in malodorants break disulfide bridges in human serum albumin and form adducts suitable as biomarkers of exposure in vitro

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Disulfide adducts of mercaptans with cysteine residues in human serum albumin were detected as tripeptides and dipeptides after proteolysis with proteinase K. All peptide adducts were detected simultaneously with a mass spectrometry‐based method working in the scheduled multiple reaction monitoring (sMRM) mode.

Formally Specifying and Proving Operational Aspects of Forensic Lucid in Isabelle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A Forensic Lucid intensional programming language has been proposed for intensional cyberforensic analysis. In large part, the language is based on various predecessor and codecessor Lucid dialects bound by the higher-order intensional logic (HOIL) that ...

Changing trends in anabolic‐androgenic steroid use within Scottish prisons: Detection, prevalence, and quantitation

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
This study reports the qualitative and quantitative detection of anabolic‐androgenic steroids (AASs) in seized samples from prisons. Since 2022 there has been an increase in AAS detections with oxymetholone the most prevalent AAS, followed by metandienone, methyltestosterone, and oxandrolone.
