Deep Regression Forests for Age Estimation [PDF]
Age estimation from facial images is typically cast as a nonlinear regression problem. The main challenge of this problem is the facial feature space w.r.t. ages is heterogeneous, due to the large variation in facial appearance across different persons of the same age and the non-stationary property of aging patterns.

Introduction : Since the population increases and the industry develops, the demand for fossil fuels continues to increase, creating problems of energy resource depletions and accelerating global warming.

Mapping global forest age from forest inventories, biomass and climate data [PDF]
Forest age can determine the capacity of a forest to uptake carbon from the atmosphere. However, a lack of global diagnostics that reflect the forest stage and associated disturbance regimes hampers the quantification of age-related differences in forest

Vegetation carbon stock (Cveg) in global forests, which is important for C cycle‐climate feedbacks, commonly increases with forest age. Due to the allometric growth of plants, the nonlinear increase in Cveg with woody fraction (fw) is expected across ...

Monitoring of forest ecosystems in Ireland : FOREM 9 project : final report [PDF]
Intensive monitoring has been carried out under EC Regulation 3528/86 (project number 8860 IR 001.0) at Ballyhooly, Co. Cork since 1988. In 1991, three new plots (Roundwood, Cloosh and Brackloon) were established (9060IR0030) to give a more ...

Thirty-meter map of young forest age in China [PDF]
Young forest age mapping at a fine spatial resolution is important for increasing the accuracy of estimating land–atmosphere carbon fluxes and guiding forest management practices.

FIRE DISTURBANCE PATTERNS AND FOREST AGE STRUCTURE
ABSTRACT. This paper investigates how the stability of forest age‐distribution is related to the fire regimes. We start with the derivation of theoreticalnegative exponentialforest age‐distribution, and use three models to explore the condition with which a stable age‐distribution could be expected. The results suggested that a stable age‐distribution

Studying key leaf functional traits is crucial for understanding plant resource utilization strategies and growth. To explore the patterns and driving factors of key leaf functional traits in forests along elevational gradients under global change, we ...

Hniezdna početnosť a biotopové vzťahy holuba plúžika (Columba oenas) v západnej časti Cerovej vrchoviny (J Slovensko) / Breeding abundance and habitat associations of the Stock Dove (Columba oenas) in the western part of the Cerová vrchovina Mts. (S Slovakia) [PDF]
To assess Stock Dove breeding abundance and habitat associations, we mapped calling males in the western part of the Cerová vrchovina Mts. (61 km2 ) during 2016.
