Water limitations on forest carbon cycling and conifer traits along a steep climatic gradient in the Cascade Mountains, Oregon [PDF]
Severe droughts occurred in the western United States during recent decades, and continued human greenhouse gas emissions are expected to exacerbate warming and drying in this region.

The impact of shifting cultivation in the forestry ecosystems of timor-leste [PDF]
Every year thousands of hectares of forest are destructed as a result of the practice of swidden agriculture, shifting cultivation or "slush and burn" causing changes in forest ecosystems.

Linkages between Phosphorus and Plant Diversity in Central European Forest Ecosystems—Complementarity or Competition? [PDF]
The phosphorus nutrition status of European forests has decreased significantly in recent decades. For a deeper understanding of complementarity and competition in terms of P acquisition in temperate forests, we have analyzed α-diversity, organic layer ...

This study reveals that maternal antibiotic exposure prior to conception disrupts intergenerational gut microbial succession. By enhancing maternal‐offspring microbial transmission, altering microbial developmental trajectories and increasing selective pressures during community assembly, these disturbances lead to persistent gut mucosal immaturity and

Prioritisation for adaptation in tropical forest ecosystems : Working paper n°44 [PDF]
Under natural resource ecosystems shared across communities and nations, the distribution among stakeholders of risks and vulnerability to climate change is likely to be uneven on account of the nature of their stakes in the ecosystems, the degree of ...

Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanning Data for the Assessment of Standing and Lying Deadwood: Current Situation and New Perspectives [PDF]
LiDAR technology is finding uses in the forest sector, not only for surveys in producing forests but also as a tool to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of the three-dimensional component of forest environments.

ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.
