Harvester and Forwarder machines efficiency and operational performance in forest harvesting
The knowledge on productive capacity and variable elements that affect machines efficiency is essential for optimizing operations in forest harvesting. This study aimed to evaluate Harvester and Forwarder machines efficiency and operational performance, for forest exploitation, in the south of the Bahia State, Brazil.

Optimization of forest management decision making under conditions of risk [PDF]
It is well known that decision making problem solving in forest management involves risks from different sources. In many cases, the incorporation of risk will change the optimal decisions in different ways.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Response of Soil CO2 Efflux to Shelterwood Harvesting in a Mature Temperate Pine Forest
In forest ecosystems, soil CO2 efflux is an important component of ecosystem respiration (RE), which is generally driven by variability in soil temperature and soil moisture.

A Rare Allele of ST5 From Wild Rice Enhances Salt Tolerance in Rice
A novel salt‐tolerance gene ST5W, characterized by a unique 36‐bp promoter insertion, is found exclusively in a small subset of Oryza rufipogon and is absent in cultivated rice. Field trials confirm ST5W significantly enhances rice yield across diverse genetic backgrounds under saline conditions.
