Promotion of Forest Landowner Aggregates
Journal of Forestry, 1969Abstract The Texas Forest Service began a project in 1964 to promote formation of forest landowner aggregates composed of small, private forest landowners in the pine-hardwood region for the purpose of more efficient management. Emphasis was given to owners whose forest holdings ranged from 100 to 5,000 acres in size.

Stormwise: Innovative Forest Management to Promote Storm Resistance in Roadside Forests
Journal of ForestryAbstract A growing proportion of forested landscapes are interspersed with human infrastructure, such as utility lines and roads, increasing the potential for tree-failure consequences due to storms and other causes. Utilities and other institutions have strong incentives to reduce such interactions and allocate substantial resources to ...

Promoting the O3 flux concept for European forest trees
Environmental Pollution, 2007Tropospheric ozone (O3) levels are predicted to stay high, being a factor within "global change" with potential effects on the carbon sink strength of forest trees. Hence, new approaches to O3 risk assessment and their validation are required, although appropriate databases for adult trees are scant.

Herbivores Promote Habitat Specialization by Trees in Amazonian Forests
Science, 2004In an edaphically heterogeneous area in the Peruvian Amazon, clay soils and nutrient-poor white sands each harbor distinctive plant communities. To determine whether a trade-off between growth and antiherbivore defense enforces habitat specialization on these two soil types, we conducted a reciprocal transplant study of seedlings of 20 species from ...

Carbono 21: Promoting Forestation Through Digital Assets
Anais Estendidos do XLIII Simpósio Brasileiro de Redes de Computadores e Sistemas Distribuídos (SBRC 2025)Despite its environmental benefits, forestation is often overlooked in favor of more profitable crops with negative environmental impacts. In response, this work promotes forestation through tokenization, creating financial incentives for landowners who plant trees.

Growth-Promoting Endophytic Fungi of Forest Trees
2011This chapter focuses on the relatively new field of research on endophytic fungi of trees that directly improve plant growth. Endophytic fungi of Scots pine and Norway spruce enhance root development of seedlings and cuttings. Endophytic yeast strains isolated from poplar trees can increase overall growth of not only poplar but also of crop plants ...

Forest Bathing: Do Forest Monoterpenes Affect Physiological Processes That Promote Health?
Journal of Complementary Research and Alternative MedicineThis paper considers the health effects of ‘Forest Bathing’ and whether such health effects are mediated by forest volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or they’re whether these are through ‘mindfulness’ practices that activate health-promoting physiological processes.

Does forest conversion promote growth and alleviate poverty ? [PDF]
Since the formation of Malaysia in 1963, there was an obvious reduction in the forested area of Peninsular Malaysia. Statistical data from the Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia showed that the forested area in 1970 decreased sharply from 8,012,600 ha to 6,361,400 ha in 1980 and finally declined to 5,788,523 ha in 2012.

National Forest Planning is Promoting US Forest Service Acceptance of Operations Research
Interfaces, 1984To comply with the National Forest Management Act of 1976, operations research analysts were placed in nearly all of the 121 national forest headquarters to perform forest-level planning using large and complex linear programming models. In spite of early criticism, the models and the analysts are now being accepted by middle managers as valuable aids

Promoting Forest Thinning through Utilizing Materials for Paper
