Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

The Tropical managed Forests Observatory: a research network addressing the future of tropical logged forests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
While attention to logging in the tropics has been increasing, studies on the long-term effects of silviculture on forest dynamics and ecology remain scare and spatially limited.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Ongoing study on the integration of biodiversity concerns in management of forest concessions in Central Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Central Africa is home to the world's second largest contiguous tropical rainforest, after Amazon. Depending on countries in the sub-region, between 10% to 15% (Nasi, Cassagne, Billand, 2006) of the forests' surface area is occupied by protected areas ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Are we using the most appropriate methodologies to assess the sensitivity of rainforest biodiversity to habitat disturbance? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Accurately assessing how biodiversity responds in the Anthropocene is vital. To do so, a number of indicator taxa are commonly used to monitor human-impacted forests and the subsequent recovery of their biodiversity.

Design, manufacturing and preliminary evaluation of a wheeltrimmer [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2008
Control of weed is one of the most important problems in the botanic gardens, tree nurseries and plant research centers which generally are man made with high cost and time investment. In this investigation a wheel trimmer (brush cutter) was designed and

The heat stress for workers employed in a dairy farm

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2014
The Italian dairy production is characterized by high heterogeneity. The typology quantitatively more important (80% of national production) is represented by cow’s milk cheeses (Grana Padano cheese, string cheese, Parmesan cheese, etc.), while the ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

The importance of forest and trees for ecosystem-based adaptation in rural landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Ecosystems provide important services that can help people adapt to climate variability and change. Scientific literature provides evidence that EBA with forests and trees can reduce social vulnerability to climate hazards; however, uncertainties and ...
