Reduced fecundity associated with Wolbachia infection in a Neotropical drosophilid Redução da fecundidade associada à infecção por Wolbachia em um drosofilídeo Neotropical

Using multiple infected and uninfected Drosophila sturtevanti lines, we investigated (i) the impact of Wolbachia on fecundity and (ii) its effects relative to antibiotic treatment. Based on over 1680 dissected ovaries, fecundity was similar between infected and uninfected flies.

Diurnal and nocturnal salivary fluoride bioavailability following brushing with high‐ or regular‐fluoride dentifrices

Abstract This study evaluated salivary fluoride (F) bioavailability during diurnal and nocturnal periods after using a high‐fluoride or regular dentifrice. Fifteen healthy adults participated in a double‐blind crossover study, brushing with either a 1450 ppm F or 5000 ppm F dentifrice.

Ulvan is a polysaccharide available from green seaweed with beneficial properties for various applications. The full potential of ulvan requires enzymatic degradation of the polymer, thus producing ulvan oligosaccharides. This study expands the armoury of characterised ulvan lyases.
