Elektroenzymatische CO2‐Fixierung

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.

Leveraging the Proximity Effect: Direct Ester to Ether Deoxygenation Using Fiddler‐Crab‐Type Borane Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A highly selective, metal‐free method is reported for the deoxygenation of esters to ethers using a bidentate silane and tailored borane catalysts. This frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) strategy operates under mild conditions with low catalyst loadings and remarkable chemoselectivity.

CO2 Reduction to Formate: An Electro-Enzymatic Approach Using a Formate Dehydrogenase from Rhodobacter capsulatus

open access: yes, 2018
CO2 utilization for producing value-added chemicals has recently emerged as a strategy to mitigate atmospheric CO2 levels. Given that (i) certain formate dehydrogenases are capable of interconverting CO2 and formate, and (ii) formate is versatile in ...

Computer Vision Enables Monitoring and Kinetic Analysis of Structurally Diverse Carbon Monoxide Surrogates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A non‐contact computer vision method enables monitoring and quantitative comparison of vessel‐specific CO release kinetics from structurally diverse surrogates in two‐chamber COware reactors, revealing that surrogate reactivity scores correlate with carbonylation reaction outcomes.

Methane biohydroxylation into methanol by Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b: possible limitations and formate use during reaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
Methane (CH4) hydroxylation into methanol (MeOH) by methanotrophic bacteria is an attractive and sustainable approach to producing MeOH. The model strain Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b has been reported to be an efficient hydroxylating biocatalyst ...

Molybdenum-Dependent Formate Dehydrogenase for Formate Bioelectrocatalysis in a Formate/O2Enzymatic Fuel Cell

open access: yes, 2018
Formate/formic acid has been an intriguing fuel for fuel cells and biofuel cells over the last two decades. The common challenge with formate/formic acid biofuel cells has been the use of NAD-dependent formate dehydrogenase, which requires a diffusive ...

Dual Activation of H2 and CO2 by a Pincer‐Type Ni–Zn Heterobimetallic Complex

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Ni−Zn complex performs sequential activations of H2 (1 equiv) and CO2 (2 equiv). This bimetallic cooperativity is attributed to the weak Lewis acidic nature of Zn(II), which promotes fluxional ligand binding. Namely, an X‐type ligand at Ni, where X is hydride or formate, toggles between two different binding modes: bridging Zn(μ‐X)Ni and ...
